Background

Northern Arapaho and Eastern Shoshone share one reservation, and the tribe's own site gives the population as more than 9,862 Northern Arapaho and over 4,216 Eastern Shoshone. That reservation lies between the Wind River Range and the Owl Creek Mountains and covers 2.2 million acres. The Northern Arapaho Tribe of Wyoming is one of four groups of Arapaho who occupied the headwaters of the Arkansas and Platte Rivers.
